These Streets Are Paved with Festivals

Fall is upon us, but no matter the season, it’s always a big weekend on the streets of Planned Property neighborhoods.  And this weekend is no different, bringing two of fall’s more popular street festivals, the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts, and the Wells Street Fall Festival.   Both festivals run from Saturday Sept. 10 to Sunday Sept. 11.  The Lakeview East Arts Fest starts early and the Wells Street Fall Fest ends late, so it is very feasible to find that perfect piece of artwork for your apartment during the day, and then check out the bands at the Wells Street Festival in the evening.  Below you’ll find a little info on each.

Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

Location: Broadway between Belmont and Roscoe
Hours: Sat 9/10 –  10am-6pm ; Sun 9/11 – 10am-5pm

The Lakeview East Festival of the Arts melds fine visual artwork with a music lineup containing an eclectic mix of up and coming original artists.  Many pieces will be on display and for sale including painting, photography, jewelry, furniture, and sculpture.  For the map of artists and their medium, click HERE. Main stage headliners from the music lineup include singer/songwriter Tom Schraeder on Saturday and funk masters the Dance Floor Plans on Sunday.  The full lineup can be found HERE.

Wells Street Fall Festival

Location:  N. Wells St. between North Ave. and Schiller
Hours:  Sat 9/10 –  11am-10pm ; Sun 9/11 – 11am-8pm

Pitching itself as a “something for everyone” street fest, the Wells Street Fall Festival includes food from local vendors, music, and drinks.  But, what makes it stand out from other street festivals is the large selection of wines available, with something for aficionados and newbies alike.  Music at the fest takes place on two stages, one at the north and one at the south end.  Music styling includes a mixture of pop and rock with some bands playing cover tracks and others doing original material.  Music headliners include 90’s alternative rockers the Get Up Kids on Saturday and Marcy Playground on Sunday.
