Chicago is one of those cities that just has everything, from award winning dining, historical museums, and the countless festivals and celebrations that happen year round. When you’re in Chicago, you’re in for quite the treat. Yet there is one holiday that we really do go above and beyond for here in the city, which of course is, St. Patrick’s Day!
This year, the city of Chicago is gearing up for quite the celebration. St. Patrick’s Day is of course on March 17th, which happens to be a Friday this year. However, the city will also be doing a celebration this weekend, March 10th. So with such a spread out holiday week, we at PPM thought we give you a FIVE event rundown to help navigate your festivities this coming weekend. So let’s get to it!
St. Patrick’s Day Downtown Parade
The parade will star at noon Saturday, March 11 at Columbus Drive. The route goes all the way up to the official viewing stand near Buckingham Fountain.
Northwest Side Irish Parade
The parade starts at noon Sunday March 12th beginning at Onahan School and ending at Harlem Avenue.
The Famous South Side Irish Parade
Begins at noon Sunday March 12th from 103rd and Western Avenue proceeding south on Western to 1150 Street.
Dyeing the Chicago River Green
At 9 in the morning, Saturday March 11th, the boat crew will begin coloring the river green for an age old St. Patrick’s Day Tradition.
There is really no shortage to bars to hit both this weekend and Friday the 17th. We suggest Division Street, expect long lines however. River North bar crawl, is always a fun stop after the parade. It’s a great time to head Downtown and enjoy a pint or 10!
It’s clear to see there are plenty of incredible St. Patrick’s Day celebrations happening very soon.
