Summer is the time for street fests, pub crawls, art shows, farmers markets, and annual German drinking festivals. In Chicago, we’ve got it all, especially in Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and the Gold Coast. Start the season off right with this quick list of events that are throwing down in your neighborhood this weekend.

Lincoln Park

Raphael Saadiq
Friday June 3rd, 8pm at Park West (322 W. Armitage)
With an old-time R&B Motown dance-funk vibe, this show is worth every dollar and a great way to kick off your summer of auditory epicness. Entertainment Weekly writes, “Backed by a galvanizing ensemble of musicians that would make the Funk Brothers proud, Saadiq belts out effervescent love songs with infectious vigor.”

Green City Market
Saturday June 4th, 7am – 1pm
South End of Lincoln Park (1750 N. Clark St.) FREE.

Shop for locally farmed and organic meats, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, honey, baked goods and more. Fresh flowers available. The market also features chef demonstrations, live music, and kids’ activities. This Saturday, Chef Jon Dubois from Green Zebra hosts a cooking demo at 10:30am.

Eastside Millennium Art Show

Celebrate “Art in the City” at the Chicago Eastside Millennium Art Festival! Produced in collaboration with the local Eastside Millennium Gateway Association, this world-class celebration of art showcases the original works of acclaimed artists in a variety of mediums. First Fridays at the Museum of Contemporary Art
Friday, June 3rd: 6pm – 10pm. 220 E. Chicago Ave. $10-$18
Happy hour takes on a new meaning with First Fridays at the MCA. Relax after a long workweek with a cash bar featuring specialty drinks and free Wolfgang Puck appetizers. Lagunitas Pub Crawl

Starts at Blokes & Birds in Lakeview (3343 N. Clark St.)

Lakeview Sausage Fest
Saturday and Sunday, Noon – 10pm.
Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street at 3600 N. Sheffield Ave.

The 10th annual event, formerly the Lake View Music Fest, just outside Wrigley Field gets a slight rebranding but still features live music, arts and craft vendors and food from area restaurants and producers, specifically encased meats. Vendors include Bobak’s Sausage Company, Paulina Meat Market, Chicago’s Dog House, Murphy’s Bleachers, Notolli & Son Italian Sausage Shop and Greek Delights (via Metromix Chicago).

Mayfest
All Weekend! Thu: 5pm – 9:30pm, Fri: 5pm – 11pm, Sat: Noon – 11pm, Sun: Noon – 10pm

Lincoln and Leland Avenues in Lincoln Square: FREE

The 12th annual German festival features live music and maypole dancing. Bring cash for heaping plates of German food and steins of beer. The Friday night opening ceremony features a traditional keg tapping and crowning of the year’s Mayfest queen (via Metromix Chicago).
