Well, winter is here and we might as well embrace it. Lucky for us, Chicago has a lot going on in the month of December, here are a few things worth checking out:

Traditionally, the Christkindlmarket began in Germany and Chicago decided to adopt it’s own version! It is Chicago’s largest open-air Christmas festival. Many vendors involved are German and although not entirely German, it still has a traditional German feel.
Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo
FREE; December 6-8, 13-23, December 26 – January 5. Hours: 5-9pm
Light displays throughout the zoo are the main attraction, but zoo lights involves so much more! Photos with Santa through December 23, free holiday crafts, animal encounters, warm spiced wine and beer (YES wine and beer), dinner and snacks, holiday gift shopping, live ice carving every night, carousel and train rides.
Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier
FREE Admission; December 6 through January 12
This Winter festival is a huge attraction in Chicago. There are rides (like spinning hot chocolate cups, a zip line, inflatable slide) as well as visits with Santa. There’s also an indoor ice skating rink, a candy cane lighthouse, a climbing wall, many more rides, and various activities (cookie cottage making).
Randolph Street Holiday Market
$8/ticket online; December 14 and 15; 10am to 5pm
If you’re looking for unique Holiday gifts, look no further. The Randolph Street Holiday Market has a variety of vintage and unique finds as well as modern gifts.
Christmas Carols at the Bean
Meet at cloud gate every Friday until Christmas and join in singing carols with fellow Chicagoans. There is no better way to get into the holiday spirit.

Christmas Around the World
At the Museum of Science and Industry; through January 5th
Christmas exhibits and traditions are displayed from around the world. Truly an eye-opening and beautiful experience.
