Happy National Burger Day! We have spent the last year sampling the best burgers in our favorite neighborhoods. (Lakeview, Lincoln Park and the Gold Coast)
As you know Chicago is in the midst of a full-on burger craze. Between ‘cheffy’ burgers that incorporate high-end ingredients and lauded burger chains moving into Chicago, it’s never been easier to find a great burger. Here’s everything you need to find the best burgers Chicago has to offer.
If you’re like us and love burgers then our list should not disappoint your taste buds.
Select Cut Steakhouse
Nothing fancy here – just high-quality meat, a pillow-soft bun, and lettuce/tomato/onion with your choice of cheese. No crazy toppings or exotic meats, just a very well put together classic burger with extremely high quality beef and it tastes like a perfectly cooked steak! Super friendly attentive service – open EVERDAY for lunch – 11:00 am – 11:00 pm 365 days a year – GO NOW!
Mastodon, a towering combination of BBQ sauce, cheddar, bacon, and frizzled onions. He decided to balance things out with his burger by ordering it with a side salad instead of fries, but after tackling the burger didn’t have enough room for the salad and ended up taking it to go.
#8, a classic burger topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. It comes with onions too, but he opted not to get them. He didn’t say much about his burger because he was busy devouring it, so that means it was a winner.
Edzo’s Burger Shop
When it comes to the burgers, there are three sizes to choose from (single, double, or triple patties) with a ton of toppings including bacon, sauteed mushrooms and fried eggs. We opted for a burger with two patties with “everything” which includes ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions and then went for broke with bacon and a fried egg!
The savory burger patty was juicy and cooked to perfection. The bun was toasted and buttered lightly – very soft for a whole wheat bun. We had it with a fried egg, bacon and special sauce – simply delicious!
