Chicago Pride Fest 2013

Looking for a way to liven up your summer? Chicago’s Gay Pride is always a blast! We boast one of the best in the country. However, there’s more to the Pride festivities than the parade. No matter if you’re gay or straight, here are the top five picks of must see/do events:
• Chicago Pride Fest: Held June 22-23, 2013; between Addison/Halsted and Broadway/Halsted. This festive event marks the first official party of summer and features dance and pop music acts on two stages, food and arts/crafts and local merchant vendors.
• Northalsted Sunday-Funday: Held every week in Boystown. North Halsted comes alive with Sunday-Funday festivities and activities each week; featuring brunches, parties, DJ’s, and more. See what all of Chicago Land is enjoying. Come “straight” to Halsted!

• 11th Annual Windy City Gay Idol finals: Held June 26, 2013; at the Mayne Stage 1328 W. Morse Ave. This popular community event concludes the 2013 search for the top amateur LGBT singers in Chicago-Land. Artist Levi Kreis joins the judges. Doors open at 6p

• Center on Halsted’s “Pride and Joy Kick Off”: Held June 28, 2013; at 3656 N Halsted. Join community members and allies in celebration of the advancement of the LGBT & Allies movement. The party takes place on their fabulous rooftop deck overlooking the Chicago skyline; featuring DJ Marc “Moose” Moder and host, Cyon Flare. $20 admission includes 4 drink tickets that include Full-Bar Service.

• Back Lot Bash 2013 All-Day-Bash: held June 29 and 30, 2013; at 5238 N. Clark Street. The Back Lot Bash is the hottest, most rockin’ and attended outdoor women’s festival. Each day showcases a different mix of music and entertainment for the entire community. $15 Door

Finally, I hope to see all my PPM friends at Chicago’s 44th Annual Pride Parade: Held June 30,2013; featuring 200+ floats, decorated vehicles and walking groups representing businesses, organizations and individuals.

The parade steps off at Noon in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood, from the Montrose/Broadway corner, proceeding south on Broadway; then south on Halsted; then east on Belmont; then south on Broadway; then east on Diversey to Cannon Drive.
