Check Out These Chicago Events In August

Can you believe it’s almost August?! This summer is flying by so fast, we can hardly keep up with it. But luckily, it isn’t over yet. There’s still time to enjoy summertime and the warmer weather while it’s here. Let’s make the most of it! We wanted to give you a head start on prepping for next month’s festivities, so we rounded up the best Chicago events in August that we could find. Take a look below, and plan accordingly.

Lollapalooza 2019 (August 1-4)

Lollapalooza returns to Grant Park on the first day of August. This year’s musical lineup features Ariana Grande, The Strokes, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and lots more artists. In addition to music, the festival offers tons of local foods from the city’s best spots. Vendors include Lou Malnati’s Pizza, Harold’s Chicken Shack and Tallboy Taco, to name just a few. Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention (August 2-4)

We’re months away from Halloween, but that won’t matter to horror fans. The first weekend in August, head to the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont for a horror-ifically fun event. The annual Flashback Weekend is a celebration of horror films. This year, the Flashback Weekend welcomes Sam Raimi, the director of Evil Dead. Don’t forget to wear a costume for the contest. Edge Fest (August 3-4)

Chicago Ducky Derby (August 8)

Get ready to root for your duck(s)! The Chicago Ducky Derby, an annual fundraiser benefitting the Special Olympics of Illinois, is back for another day of rubber duck races in the river. Over 60,000 rubber duckies will be tossed into the Chicago River for a race to the finish line. For just $5, you can “adopt” your own rubber duck to compete. Take it a few steps further by adopting a Quack (six ducks) or a Flock (24 ducks). Those with winning ducks will receive a prize! Click here for more information.

Chicago Hot Dog Festival (August 9-11)

Celebrate the beloved Chicago dog all weekend long at Chicago Hot Dog Festival, presented by the Chicago History Museum. The city’s “largest picnic” will offer an abundance of Vienna Beef hot dogs prepared in multiple ways by Chicago’s best top-dog vendors, according to the website. Chicago Air & Water Show (August 17-18)

It’s once again time to look to skies. The Chicago Air & Water show is back for another weekend of spectacular aircraft and watercraft performances.
