As if this is news to you, Chicago experienced its coldest December to March period since 1872 this year.
So yes, all of our complaining was completely justified. Here’s to hoping April can turn it all around for us.

Chicago Dance Month
Chicago Dance Month runs through the entire month of April and is hosted at various venues throughout the city including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Harris Theatre, Auditorium Theatre and many many more. The month aims at providing people with amazing performances as well as behind the scenes access to rehearsals. Chicago Dance Month aims to celebrate the strong and diverse dance culture in Chicago. April 12; Zhou B Art Center; 9am to 5pm. An event that celebrates all things coffee (basically a gathering of all the good people in the world). Taste coffee from all over the world, roasted in every way possible and brewed by methods you’ve never even heard of. There is coffee (enough of a reason to go) as well as prizes, giveaways, speakers, courses, and exhibits.
Soldier Field Spring Egg-Stravaganza
April 12th; Soldier Field. This is a free event and takes place at 9am at Soldier Field. It includes all kinds of family friendly events including face painting, inflatables, balloon animals and more. The egg hunt begins at 10am and takes place right on the field! There is also a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo
April 25-27; McCormick Place. Also known as C2E2 – a haven for comic book fans everywhere. Superfans come dressed as their favorite characters, and the event boasts a ton of events. Everything from special screenings, to panels to autograph sessions from well known celebrities, authors and artists. This event is known as the largest pop culture event to take place annually in the Midwest.
Wrigley Field turns 100 years old on April 23rd
The Cubs will be celebrating Wrigley’s 100th birthday all season long. The celebration will feature throwback uniforms, specialty food, bobbleheads, special guests, and more. On April 23rd the Cubs will wear replica uniforms of the 1914 Chicago Federals. More throwback uniforms will be worn on Sundays – a different decade every Sunday, visiting teams will also wear retro uniforms to those games. The Cubs’ away jersey is a tribute to the uniform worn in the 1920s. Everything from cups to helmets to all the balls used in the park will be stamped with a special logo that commemorates the 100th birthday.
