Korean Soup is all the craze these days in Chicago, why not, it’s amazing and tasty. Though finding the right place can be a bit of a challenge especially if you’re new to it. So we ventured into Chinatown this week to find the best Korean soup in town. Let us tell you, we found it. Situated right in the heart of Chinatown at 218 W. Cermak stands a slick modern Korean Restaurant, Ahjoomah’s Apron.
From entering the door you’re greeted by one of the friendliest most helpful staff we have ever encountered. Though the menu can seem daunting, there are plenty of pictures and the staff is very helpful in finding the right choose for you. But trust us, you can’t go wrong with anything here! Let’s dig in and show you what we tried.
Korean Kimchi Pancake
It kind of looks like a pizza but tastes like a vegi pancake. Very heathy and a great choose for vegetarians.
Korean rice cake, deep fried. It’s like a tasty rolled up donut!
Who doesn’t like a good Miso to start your meal!
You get an assortment of sides free to share with the table
Spicy Chicken Soup
Chicken, potatoes, carrots and onions in a hot and spicy stew. Great for two.
Tempura Udon Noodles
Tempura shrimp in a yummy soup loaded with vegies and Udon noodles.
Stir Fried Pork Belly and Kimchi
Now this was tasty, had a bit of spice and the pork was super tender.
Korean short ribs marinated in house sauce. WOW is all we can say!
Deep Fried Tender Chicken Breast
Tender Chicken breasts breaded and deep fried over a tasty glazed sauce.
If you haven’t tried Korean before then Ahjoomah’s Apron is a no-brainer, not to mention you get to checkout Chinatown. Dishes will only run you around ten dollars, so it’s a great spot for a date or meeting friends. It’s also right off the redline, making it an easy stop from many PPM buildings just steps from the train. Make sure to check out our latest review, ROCKS in Lakeview!
