There’s a lot to be excited about at the start of a new year (and a new decade!). One of our most favorite things to do when January arrives is to research what styles, colors and fabrics will likely be trending throughout the coming year. After celebrating the new year, we got to work right away to bring you the top predictions for 2020, and we think you’ll like what we found. Check out a few of our favorite 2020 home decor trends below.
Splurging on pricey home goods that look nice but aren’t practical is so last decade. Now, people want functional furniture that doesn’t just look sophisticated — they want to be able to enjoy it on a daily basis, too. Functional fabrics and upholstery will likely be a big trend this year. This is good news for us pet parents who need to consider the cleaning requirements of pieces before making any big purchases.
Pantone has spoken. The color of the year is “Classic Blue,” a shade that’s reminiscent of the sky at dusk. Therefore, it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing lots of variations of the shade, including navy blue. We love the color because it adds moodiness and sophistication without being too dark. We predict we’ll be seeing a lot of navy blue, from sofas to rugs to smaller decorative pieces.
Another one of the 2020 home decor trends we’re most excited is the resurgence of vintage, particularly in the details. While vintage pieces have been trending for years, we’re seeing a significant shift towards smaller items that complement more contemporary or modern larger pieces. For example, a vintage-styled lamp placed on a traditional end table. We’re all about mixing styles to cultivate your own unique look, and focusing on vintage details is a great way to do it.
Floral accents are looking to be a big trend in 2020. We’re seeing them on everything from throw pillows to rugs to couches. Whether you’re into big, bold blooms or prefer a more dainty floral print, you won’t have trouble finding floral-accented home goods this year. We love the look of floral temporary wallpaper, which is an ideal option for renters who can’t commit to permanent wallpaper in their apartment.
Beige Is In For 2020
When it comes to neutrals, beige is looking to reign supreme over the next year. Crisp white was a popular neutral throughout 2020, and now things are heating up —slightly. Unlike white, beige has some warmth to it, which makes it a little more welcoming. We’re all for it.
